Pavillion desktop 595-p0084.

Turned off power strip for vacation.  On return PC won't power up..  Tried powring down and up. Tried bios reset by unplugging all and removing battery.

When power switch is depressed, fans start and run for a second and then stop.  Similarly switch lights for a second and then goes out.

Greetings @dcampi

Welcome to the HP Forum.

It's tough to pinpoint a hardware problem in a Forum.

I can only take a guess.

It sounds like a power supply problem. But seeing the PC energize only to shut down could also be a short or other component failure.

I usually suggest having a local PC Tech diagnose the type of startup problem your PC is having.

You would need to try the PC in a minimum config and then swap in replacement components to find the failing component.

Thank you Bill. After a bit of troubleshooting and dead battery replacement. I took it to the neighborhood shop. Tech is replacing power supply as first step.  I'll post after resolved.

My pleasure.

Let the Forum know if the power supply fix works.

Yes.  Replacing power supply fixed the problem.  However, wireless is not working now.  I suspect that the antenna got disconnected, since the device manager says the wireless device is working and that the drivers are current.  Will go back to the shop on Monday.
