My HP Desktop computer stopped recognizing my keyboard. I ran the diagnostics test which it passed, but I still receive a message on my screen saying Boot Device not found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk. What does that mean? I can't get past this message! I can't work! What do I do? This is our business computer! I would include a screenshot with this message if I could. Please help!

@NatureLover251, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Hard Disk 3F0 Boot Device Not Found" error on your HP laptop usually indicates that the system can't detect the hard drive. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Hard Reset Your desktop:

  • Turn off the computer.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Remove any discs from the disc drive.
  • Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
  • With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Restore BIOS default settings

1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.

2. Press the power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the f10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.

3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press f9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.

4. Press f10 to Save and Exit.

5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, and then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?

6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Please try updating the BIOS - follow this document and try the suggested steps - HP Consumer Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) (Windows) | HP® Support

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:

1. Turn on your laptop and press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.

2. Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics menu.

3. Select "Component Tests" and then "Hard Drive."

4. Run the "Quick Test" and follow any on-screen instructions.

Please follow this document to perform the subsequent steps - HP PCs - Hard disk 3F0 boot device not found error | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
