  • When turning on, it acts normal and sounds like everything is working.  But a few seconds the screen is blank and mouse doesn't lite up and screen monitor goes to sleep.

Try booting into windows 7 safe mode.  I assume 7 and not XP

 

You can tap F8 repeatedly after powering up to get into safe mode.

 

The device manager might be able to show the problems.

Thank you for the help. I got so discouraged,  that I took it to a computer technician.  He advised to consider a newer tower. It made sense,  upgraded ram and $250.
