@Jernessa, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

We see that your HP desktop isn't turning on, and you've already tried draining the power. Let's walk through some step-by-step checks to narrow this down:

Basic Power Drain Method (just to confirm):

  1. Unplug the power cord.
  2. Hold the power button for 15–30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  3. Plug the power cord back in and try to power it on.

If you've done this and it still won’t turn on, try the following:

Next Steps to Troubleshoot:

Check for Signs of Life

  • Do any lights (power button, motherboard, or fan lights) come on?
  • Any sounds — like fans spinning or hard drive clicks?
  • No response at all? Move to step 2.

Verify Power Source

  • Test the wall outlet with another device (e.g., phone charger).
  • Try a different power cable if you have a spare.
  • If it’s a desktop with an internal power supply, try a different power cord or test it with another system.

Reseat Components (if comfortable opening the case)

  • Unplug everything.
  • Open the case and:
    • Reseat RAM sticks (pull them out and put them back in securely).
    • Check power supply cables to the motherboard (24-pin and CPU 4/8-pin) are secure.
    • Remove unnecessary peripherals.

Check the Power Supply Unit (PSU)

  • Some HP desktops have a small green LED near the power port on the back or on the motherboard. Is it on, off, or blinking?
  • If the fan doesn't spin at all, and there’s no light, the PSU might be dead.

CMOS Reset

  • Disconnect power.
  • Look for a CMOS battery (coin cell) on the motherboard.
  • Remove it for 1–2 minutes, then reinsert it.
  • Try powering on again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
