Hi Will,
This solution doesn't work, since the pc didn't start at all. Because of the warranty, HP fixed this for me by replacing the motherboard. The technician told me the fault lies within the bios, but this part can't be replaced on site so they just replace the whole motherboard.
Hope this helpt others out there with the same troubles. Hope this won't happen again...

I have exactly the same problem after the bios update from last Friday. I've an OMEN 25L GT12-1560nd, only 1 month in possession. The shop I bought it from couldn't help and suggested sending it back to the factory (bricked motherboard?). Tried everything including bios reset and unplugging the bios battery for several minutes.
I hope there's an easy solution!!

Please access the recovery environment by turning your computer on and off three times. After that, Win 10 will boot into the diagnostics mode. Now, you should click on Advanced options on the recovery screen. Then, choose Troubleshoot, Advanced options and Startup Repair in order.
Regards,
Will
