HP Pavilion All-in-One - 27-xa0009

Product
4NN00AA

Ram was upgraded to 16GB from 8GB. SSD was upgraded (mirrored and expanded) to 2TB from 1TB using Macrium Reflect.
Upon power up, the computer displays the following message:

"Device unable to authenticate

Please reconnect to the internet or contact your local service provider for assistance."

Internet is connected. I was able to bypass the screen temporarily by disconnecting everything from the AIO unit and booting up. I was able to get to Windows 11 and use it normally, however when restarting this screen will pop up again.1000007672.jpg

Help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi @aj9251,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the error message "Device unable to authenticate" during startup on your HP Pavilion All-in-One - 27-xa0009 could be related to a variety of factors, including hardware changes (RAM and SSD upgrade), BIOS settings, or an issue with the Windows installation. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check BIOS Settings

  • Enter BIOS/UEFI: Restart your computer and press the designated key (often F10, F2, Esc, or Del) to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup.
  • Check Boot Order: Ensure that the SSD with Windows installed is set as the primary boot device.
  • Secure Boot: Ensure Secure Boot is enabled if you are using a UEFI setup.
  • Save and Exit: Save any changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI.

2. Check Hardware Connections

  • Reseat Components: Make sure that the RAM and SSD are properly seated in their respective slots.
  • Disconnect Peripherals: Disconnect any non-essential peripherals (USB devices, printers, etc.) and try booting again.

3. Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware

  • Download Latest Firmware: Visit the HP support website, search for your product model, and download the latest BIOS/UEFI firmware.
  • Update BIOS: Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the BIOS.

4. Verify Windows Installation

Run Startup Repair:

  1. Boot from a Windows 11 installation media (USB/DVD).
  2. Select your language preferences and click Next.
  3. Click on Repair your computer.
  4. Select Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> Startup Repair.

5. Windows Activation

Ensure that your copy of Windows 11 is properly activated:

  • Open Settings: Go to Settings -> System -> Activation.
  • Check Activation Status: Ensure that Windows is activated. If not, you may need to re-enter your product key or sign in with your Microsoft account.

6. Reset Network Settings

  • Open Settings: Go to Settings -> Network & Internet.
  • Network Reset: Scroll down and select Network reset. This will remove and then reinstall all your network adapters and set other networking components back to their original settings.

I hope this helps.
