Hi @Gurbaaj, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the display on your HP 15.6-inch Laptop PC 15 is not working, there are several potential causes to investigate. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you identify and potentially fix the issue:

Check the Brightness

  • Ensure the brightness is turned up. You can usually adjust it using the function keys (often labeled as F1, F2, or similar) on the top row of your keyboard.
  • On Windows, you can also adjust brightness via the Action Center or in the Display settings.

External Monitor Test

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor using an HDMI cable.
  • If the external monitor works, the issue is likely with the laptop's display (screen or backlight). If the external monitor also doesn't show anything, the problem could be with the laptop's GPU, motherboard, or another internal component.

Power Cycle the Laptop

  • Shut down the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect any external devices (USB drives, external monitor, etc.).
  • Unplug the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Plug the laptop back in and try turning it on again.

Check for Backlight Issue

  • Shine a flashlight at an angle on the screen. If you see faint images, your laptop’s backlight may be malfunctioning. This would require a screen or backlight replacement.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Hold the "Esc" key while pressing the power button to start the laptop.
  • This will bring up the startup menu. You can then run diagnostics by pressing the relevant keys for HP Diagnostics (often "F2" or "F12").

Boot into Safe Mode

  • If the screen still doesn't work after booting, try booting into Safe Mode to see if it's a software or driver issue:
    • Hold down the "Shift" key and select "Restart" from the Start menu.
    • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings, then select Restart.
    • Once the laptop restarts, press 4 to boot into Safe Mode.
    • If Safe Mode works, the issue might be caused by a driver conflict or software.

Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

  • If you can access your laptop using an external monitor or through Safe Mode, check for driver updates:
    • Go to Device Manager (right-click Start and select Device Manager).
    • Expand Display Adapters, right-click your display driver, and select Update Driver.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
