Hi I have a desktop that my friend gave me and I booted it up to find out it has a power-on password, he doesn’t know it because it’s fairly old. My warranty is expired so I can’t do anything but I tried to take out the cmos battery for 30 mins, didn’t work. I also tried to move the jumper pins for the cmos pw and it didn’t work. Please if you have a solution help me. My product is a Hp Pavilion Desktop 550 I don't get a generated code after 3 failed attempts too.
Thank you, Malachi

Hello @MalachiManuma .
*HP does not capture or retain any BIOS password data, so HP cannot retrieve your local BIOS password.
*HP can remove the password through a service on the notebook.
*You can contact HP technical support to set it up. Options vary by location and warranty status (a service charge may apply).
*HP does not capture or retain any BIOS password data, so HP cannot retrieve your local BIOS password.
