OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-1xxx
Microsoft Windows 11

The latest F.12 BIOS firmware has major sleep issues since it adopts Windows Modern Standby S0 sleep state. The PC won't turn off lights or fan and is always running processes when I want it to be SLEEPING in normal S3 sleep state. I have seen F.11 has the option to enable S3 sleep state. Please bring this feature back for next BIOS for HANA 8876 mobo. The PC as is causes huge noise and light pollution....

Please check and see what sleep states are available for your system. Use the windows  command prompt in elevated mode as shown

If your system supports "S3" then (IMHO) windows 11 is not properly sleeping and this problem has been around since win10 release 1903.  You might want to read what users have gone through to fix the problem

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/sleep-not-working-since-1903-update-support-sa...

There is a discussion of sleep states here

https://www.elevenforum.com/t/see-sleep-states-available-on-windows-11-pc.2399/

Note that your GT12-1xxx is NOT considered a system on a chip "SoC"  so S3 should be working.

If the "powercfg /a" shows your system supports S0 and S3 is not enabled then for sure there is a BIOS problem as S0 may not be fully supported by your GT12.

I am guessing that S3 will be enabled and unfortunately you may have to try all those Microsoft MVP'ers suggestoins.

Not good - they disabled S3. for sure. You might try this tip and see if it gets the hidden or advanced menu.

It is possible that deleting and then re-creating a power plan will fix the problem.

I switched from sleep to hibernate on my surface pro 4 as battery slowly discharges (S3) and I do not EVER want to replace the battery again.

BIOS downgrade is always dangerous, I would switch to hibernate or live with the problem.

[edit] By the way, you  can easy use the snip and paste windows 10 screen capture

WindowKey + Shift + S and select a region of the screen then paste it int the forum or word or whatever you want to save the image on.

Sorry!

Figured as much... Here's to hoping for a BIOS update to open those sleep states since current S0 is literally breaking the sleep function for many Omen 25L and 30L owners. Adding custom fan curves would be brownie points but HP is HP 😞
