Hi @SugarBunch,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how unsettling it can be to see your HP desktop stuck on a black screen with the error code 0xc0000001. It feels like your system is locked behind a door you can’t open, especially when you just want to get back to your work or unwind with something familiar. Let’s walk through this together step by step to try and fix the issue.

Recommended Fixes

Here’s how you can gently guide your system back to life:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears residual power and resets hardware connections:

  • Turn off the computer.
  • Disconnect the power cable and all peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Reconnect only the power cable and try turning it on.

2. Check BIOS Settings

Sometimes Secure Boot or TPM settings interfere:

  • Press Esc or F10 during startup to enter BIOS.
  • Disable Secure Boot temporarily.
  • Save and exit, then try booting again.

3. Use Windows Recovery Media

If the error persists:

  • Create a Windows 11 recovery USB using another PC.
  • Boot from the USB by pressing Esc or F9 during startup.
  • Choose Startup Repair or System Restore.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
