Hi @Charlespg92

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern with the delay when your PC resumes from sleep mode. It’s good that the display comes back right away, and we can focus on improving the response of the keyboard, mouse, and login screen.

Let’s go through recommended steps to address this:

Step 1: Update BIOS and Drivers

  • Visit HP’s official support site for your product model.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS update.
  • Update chipset, graphics, and input device drivers (keyboard/mouse drivers are included in chipset packages).

Step 2: Adjust Power Settings

  • Open the HP App on your PC.
  • Run Diagnose & Fix to check for power management issues.
  • In Windows, go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting and set it to Disabled.
  • Expand PCI Express > Link State Power Management and set it to Off.

Step 3: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart the PC and press F2 repeatedly to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the System Test and specifically check the input devices.

Step 4: Check Fast Startup

  • In Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do, select Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup if enabled, then save changes.

Step 5: Verify Windows Updates

  • Ensure the latest Windows updates are installed, as they often include fixes for sleep/wake behavior.

These steps are structured to help the system resume more smoothly from sleep mode.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

This kind of troubleshooting process actually feels similar to working through 1z0-1151-25 dump questions, where each step might look straightforward in isolation, but the real challenge is understanding how different system components (power settings, drivers, BIOS, and OS updates) interact with each other. These steps are structured to help the system resume more smoothly from sleep mode.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I actually have the same issue and it’s incredibly frustrating. My screen comes back on instantly after waking from sleep, but then there’s this long delay before the keyboard and mouse respond and the login screen fully appears. It feels like the system is half-awake during that time, and you’re just stuck waiting without being able to do anything. I’ve noticed it doesn’t always happen consistently, but when it does, it really slows things down and makes sleep mode almost unusable.

I’ve tried a few common fixes like checking power settings, updating drivers, and disabling some startup/background processes, but nothing has really solved it completely. It almost feels like something related to USB devices or drivers taking too long to reinitialize after sleep, or maybe even a deeper system-level issue. I’m still trying to figure it out myself, so if anyone has found a reliable fix or knows what’s causing this delay, I’d really appreciate it too since I’m dealing with the exact same problem.
