From many years , I have been using HP products and recently I bought a new laptop and I am very disappointed with the purchase. I bought HP pavilion 15 AMD RYZEN 5, 1TB SSD a month ago and since then it has been giving me problem everyday, whenever the laptop is in idle or sleep position after some time the screen has this "3F0 error blue display " or it just restarts on its own closing all the ongoing programs and software on it but if I restarts the laptop it starts working fine. I have tried every possible solution that is available on the internet- be it reinstalling the windows, updating drivers, updating BIOS, troubleshooting, diagnostic tools etc. and even I registered the complain with HP customer care and even technician tried everything and after every checkup he says it'll be alright from now on but no. Then I opted for replacement of my new laptop and got new replaced laptop and it is having the same problem. I am literally really frustated by this thing and as I am a student I have all my study things going on from laptop only so it's really disturbing my studies.  Please help me or suggest what should I do now? and also if anyone knows what can be the possible cause for it? Should I again opt for getting it replaced again?

Hi @Jaya_K,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds incredibly frustrating to deal with recurring issues like this, especially when you've already gone through troubleshooting, a replacement, and multiple attempts to resolve it. The fact that you are still encountering the 3F0 Error (which is typically related to hard drive or boot issues) even on a replacement laptop suggests that this may not be an isolated hardware issue but could involve the specific configuration of your system.

Here are some suggestions that might help:

Check Power Settings

Since the issue seems to happen when your laptop is idle or in sleep mode, there could be a conflict with power management settings. You can try the following:

  • Disable Fast Startup: This feature can cause issues when waking from sleep mode.
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable > Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
  • Modify Sleep Settings:
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings for the selected power plan > Change advanced power settings.
    • Under Sleep, set Hibernate after and Sleep after to Never, and under PCI Express, set Link State Power Management to Off.

Check SSD Health

Since the 3F0 error is boot-related, it could indicate an issue with the SSD (despite being new). Run a diagnostic check using third-party software (like CrystalDiskInfo) or HP's own SSD diagnostic tool to check for any issues with the drive.

Disable Hybrid Sleep

Hybrid Sleep can cause problems for some laptops. To disable:

  • Go to Power Options > Change plan settings > Advanced power settings > Expand Sleep > Turn off Hybrid sleep.

BIOS Settings

  • Check Boot Order: Ensure your SSD is set as the primary boot device in the BIOS.
  • Update BIOS: You mentioned that you already updated it, but check if there’s an even newer version on HP’s support site. Sometimes updates address power management or boot issues.

Disable Windows Hibernation

Try disabling hibernation altogether. In some cases, this can help avoid issues with sleep/wake cycles.

  • Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type: powercfg -h off. This disables hibernation.

Firmware Update for SSD

If your SSD has manufacturer firmware updates, check if there are any available updates that address system stability issues.

In-Depth Hardware Test

Even though you’ve tried diagnostics, it might be worth doing an extended HP Hardware Diagnostics scan:

  • Restart the laptop and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F2 to open System Diagnostics and run extensive tests (especially for SSD and memory).

Backup Your Data

Ensure you have regular backups in place, especially since your laptop restarts unexpectedly and closes ongoing work. You can use cloud storage or an external drive to avoid data loss.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
