Hello, I had a working EliteDesk 705 G2 SFF with an old BIOS version from 2016 which i decided to upgrade

(i _think_ from 2.18 to 2.52 but i may be wrong).

The update program ran under windows 10 and i hit the "restart" button at the end.

On restart i have no video output at all (no logo nor anything).

If I try to turn the PC off, it restarts with a series of beeps and the power button briefly turns red.

Is there a procedure to either complete the upgrade or revert to the previous BIOS/UEFI version ?

Unfortunately, that is not good

BIOS recovery is described here

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_3932413-2337994-16

The first two steps may work.  If not then the first part of step 3

Try the "win + v" first then the win+b

The step 3 that uses a USB may work but use an old bios such as 2.18

you can pick older bios also, just expand the revisions and scroll down

It may not be possible to install an older bios.  There is also a warning about upgrading from really old to new

quote from release: "** It is possible that upgrading the bios directly to version 02.10 or newer might fail ending in a no boot state, to avoid this, bios SoftPAQ will upgrade to intermediate version"

It would have helped if the updates software gave a warning.  You might complain to HP about that.

Thanks a lot for replying (so fast !), BeemerBiker

I removed the CMOS battery for a couple minutes (not sure it actually helped), rebooted, still had no video but let the system on to hear it beep after a couple more minutes and the video was back, with a message telling me the update was proceeding. And now all seems well, the new firmware revision is active and the system boots alright. Phew, not bricked yet, thus !
