Can’t access all-in-one desktop as failed attempts (by child) at PIN unlock screen. Have waited 10 hours but still no luck when try PIN. Also can’t use the ‘I forgot my password option’! Any ideas???

Hi @Zip-10,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're locked out of your HP All-in-One desktop and the 'I forgot my password' option isn't working, you can try the following steps.

Wait for Timeout: If you've been locked out due to multiple failed attempts, sometimes waiting for a longer period (up to 24 hours) can reset the lockout. Ensure the device is connected to the internet during this time.

Use a Different Account: If there are other user accounts on the device, try logging in with those.

Boot into Safe Mode: Restart the computer and enter Safe Mode. Sometimes, you can use Safe Mode to reset the password:

  • Restart your computer and press F8 or Shift + F8 during startup.
  • Select “Safe Mode with Command Prompt.”
  • At the command prompt, you can use commands to reset the password.

Password Reset Disk: If you previously created a password reset disk, you can use it to reset your password.

Microsoft Account: If your device is linked to a Microsoft account, you can use the Microsoft Account Recovery page to reset your password.

System Recovery Options: You might need to perform a system recovery or reset. Be cautious, as this may result in data loss. Access recovery options by:

  • Restarting the computer and pressing F11 or Shift + F11 during startup.
  • Select “Troubleshoot” > “Reset this PC.”

Make sure to back up any important data regularly to avoid loss in situations like this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
