Product: HP Z820
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I did some maintenance lately on my HP Z820 workstation, i.e I removed the PCIe card, the air shroud 642165-001, RAM to dust them. I didn't take the fans off the CPUS; it's a double Xeon setup, 32 cores total.
It seems that the air shroud will not always give a good spin at boot. I don't reboot it often, maybe once every 3 months, but I believe it used to always give a good spin at start, right at the moment it's being powered; just one strong impulse.
The temperatures of the cores are ok, even under load, so I'm not too worried, but I would like to know more about this behaviour, in particular, is it a sign that the air shroud is going to fail or not.
