Hi @5CD3283M5J

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Here are the key steps to find and use your BitLocker recovery key on an HP computer:

🔐 How to Find Your BitLocker Recovery Key (HP PCs – Windows 11/10)

1. Check Your Microsoft Account

If you signed into your HP device with a Microsoft account, the recovery key is likely saved there automatically.

  • Go to https://aka.ms/myrecoverykey
  • Sign in with the same Microsoft account used on your HP PC
  • Look for your device name and the 48-digit recovery key

2. Check for Other Backup Locations

Depending on how BitLocker was set up, the recovery key might also be:

  • Saved to a USB flash drive
  • Printed and stored physically
  • Saved as a .txt file on another device
  • Backed up to a work or school account (if your device is managed by an organization)

3. Use the Recovery Key to Unlock Your Device

When prompted on the BitLocker recovery screen:

  • Enter the 48-digit key exactly as shown
  • Press Enter to unlock the drive and continue booting

If you’re unable to locate the recovery key and can’t access your system, HP recommends using Windows recovery options to reset the device. Just note that this will erase all files on the drive.
