Greetings @TKS103

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Is your PC in warranty?

A firmware update would probably be a BIOS update.

Well,  you may have two bad choices:

1. Continue watching, what appears to be, an unending failed firmware update, or

2. Shut down your PC.

Start the PC to see what happens. If you see the Windows sign in screen then no harm, no foul. Nothing may happen at startup or you might see a startup error.

So, if your PC is borked, you may need to attempt a BIOS recovery using a HP BIOS Recovery drive if your PC's BIOS is corrupted.

Doing a HP USB BIOS recovery is described at this HP Site.

At the above HP site scroll down to "Recover the BIOS using a USB recovery drive".

A no go using BIOS recovery steps at the above HP Site would require HP factory service. I can't say if this problem would be a warranty item. You'll have to talk to HP.

Or a local PC tech might be able to flash the BIOS if HP will not warranty this problem.

Regards
