Having a need and want to occasionally reinstall my OS I have finally come to the need of doing so. However I have not done so with this specific machine and for some reason it is not picking up my new HDD or allowing me to run my install disc from the drive. It gives me no other options than usb cd/hdd and network for boot? My HDD doesn't appear in boot but is recognised in bios. I'm honestly lost!

Managed to sort this as I believe something had reset bios but I reenabled legacy boot options, entered the code on boot and everything was fine. All is working now.

Hi! @Airohntd, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you have issues booting into your PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Did you replace the hard drive from HP?

Are you trying to restore the image using the HP recovery discs?

As you mentioned the hard drive is only listed in BIOS but not under boot options.

Try running a system diagnostics test on the hard drive and check if it is functioning correctly.

Refer this article to know more information about running system diagnostics on your PC.

If the hard drive test passes, try connecting a different hard drive connector and check if it helps.

Also, try restoring the BIOS to default and check it helps.

Turn on your PC keep tapping the F10 key, you will boot into BIOS.

From the main or file menu select restore defaults.

Select F10 to save changes and exit.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, it is an issue with the hard drive. Please contact HP support for service options.

Link to contact HP.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂
