HP 6200 Computer Issues
02-18-2019 04:53 PM

My computer has a few issues that I need to know about. First, it won't boot regularly and will only post about half of the time. When it does post, it will only stay on for a few minutes until it gets lines across the screen and it shuts down. Is this a bad power supply or a bad motherboard or is it something else? I've tried resetting the CMOS battery and that didn't help. My Ram chips seem to be fine also. Can anyone help me?

The problem you describe could be either PSU or motherboard, but the problem is we don't have diagnostics for checking these that we can point you to.
Have you tried running the built-in diagnostics to see what they can find? To do that, press the Esc key repeatedly while rebooting, and when the HP Startup Menu appears, select the option to run system diagnostics.
If your PC is still under the original HP one-year warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly to see about returning it under the warranty for HP diagnosis and repair. If they can't fix it, then you need to explore the options for having it replaced under warranty.
If your PC is no longer under the original warranty, you can still contact HP Customer Support, but they will charge you a fee to put you in touch with HP Technical Support.
If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!
If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (800) 474-6836

If you don't wish to pay to talk to HP Technical Support, to have HP look at it, your only recourse is to take the PC into an HP Service Center or ship it there.
If you live in the U.S., here is a link to the HP Service Repair Centers:

If you live outside the U.S., here is a link to HP Service Centers, by Country/Region: https://support.hp.com/in-en/service-center
Good Luck
