HP 6200 and Secure Boot
02-02-2019 04:13 PM

Attempting a dual boot on this older system, but the GRUB boot loader is not functioning as expected. I understand that the 6200 Pro desktop is a UEFI/GPT arrangement, and I have a question about secure boot. In the UEFI Bios I don't see an option to disable secure boot, however, I was queried by a help assistant about setting a password for the computer's setup. He mentioned that on some systems the UEFI options for secure boot do not become visible until a password has been assigned to computer setup. Is this the case with the 6200? Thankyou.

Hi:
Your PC does not have a secure boot setting in the BIOS.
Only PC's that shipped from the factory with W8 or newer have that feature in the UEFI BIOS.

Very interesting, Paul, 6200 is right on the cusp of all of the security features of UEFI. Thankyou very much for your assistance. The exact information I was seeking 🙂
