Hello! I have a HP Compaq DC7700 Convertible Minitower, i wanted to upgrade my BIOS because of a issue, everytime my computer restarted instead of booting up it was showing a BSOD (Windows 7), and i thought that it was a BIOS problem and i wanted to update it (i had version v1.10).
So let's go, i went to the hp forums and saw this post: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/mobileforumtopicpage/board-id/HardwareDPC/thread-id/76061 , i read the whole topic and i did what a guy said on it. And the problem occured, everytime i booted up it said "ME-BIOS Sync - Successful
2218-ME Firmware/System BIOS synchronization warning
ME BIOS Extension module execution has halted.
Update BIOS or Management Engine firmware if problem persists.", ok, i was aware about this problem because it hapened to the guy on the topic mentioned above, and it was a fix for it, a guy from that topic responded with a link: http://www.bauer-power.net/2008/12/adventures-in-flashing-bios-hp-dc7700.html#.Uv0XyP2YbGg. So i picked my Windows XP Professional CD (because it was needed for the fix), I installed it, and followed the instructions from the link, everything was fine until at the finish of the flash it gived me a error box that said "0x0 flash failed" or something like that, then i pressed click and it gived me this http://i.imgur.com/qniVevLh.jpg (that moment i've knowed that i screwed up), i searched disperately for a fix before i restarted the computer, put i dont find, and when i restarted the computer the inevitable happened, 8 beeps, BIOS corrupted...
So, after all of this i have a corrupted BIOS, my question is, it is a way that i can fix it? I have available USB drives and another PC if it's needed to fix... Thanks in advance!

Hi, @Stinray :
I received a message that you posted a reply, but your post was deleted.
I saw the message in the HP e-mail that you successfully updated the BIOS to v3.07.
There would be no need to change it to v1.16 f it is working on 3.07, so if it is not broke, don't fix it!
But as far at that other issue below...I have no idea what you can do about that.
'Everytime i boot up the system after the blue splash screen it says "ME-BIOS Sync Sucessfull", white letters on black screen'

Read the thread you linked to once again.
At the very end of the thread, @Paul_Tikkanen suggests reverting to an older version of the BIOS.
That seems like solid advice to me.
I know nothing about the person who wrote the article at the http://www.bauer-power.net/2008/12/adventures-in-flashing-bios-hp-dc7700.html#.Uv0XyP2YbGg link. I recall reading in the thread that Paul cautioned that flashing the BIOS would be likely to corrupt the PC if done in Windows 7.
Windows XP does not have native USB drivers, so I also recommend that you follow the instructions at the BIOS Flash Q&A in the following link and flash the BIOS via DOS. Click on the link to read the pdf document or download it to read it in Adobe Reader.

Hi, @Stinray :
If you followed that person's instructions and flashed the BIOS with the vPro v3.04, that was not a good idea.
The dc7700 has two BIOS flash paths...vPro and non-Vpro.
The fact that the BIOS version you started with (v1.10) means you should have updated via the non-VPro path and the latest version you should have installed was v1.16.
So, now as Erico pointed out, your only recourse is to use the DOS based BIOS recovery method to see if you can fix the problem.
Use v1.16 to see if you can fix the problem.
- Create a CD image to upgrade/restore system BIOS.
Since your PC is not working, I have zipped up and attached the instructions for how to try and recover the BIOS.
Read the instructions listed under the...My system tells me that my System Flash ROM image is corrupted.
Download and save the BIOS v.1.16 to another PC, but do not run it.
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=3232101&swItemId=ir_98620_1&swEnvOid=2103
Then download and install this free file utility.
After you install 7-Zip, right click on the BIOS file you downloaded, and select 7-Zip from the menu.
Have 7-zip Extract to: and let it extract the file to its folder name (sp54368).
Then you can safely open and explore the contents of the BIOS file including the same instruction file I attached from any PC, and create the bootable BIOS rescue CD according to the instructions.
You can read the instructions I attached, but if you click on the same file (BIOS Flash html) in the folder 7-Zip created, it will actually bring you right to the files that are referenced in the instructions.
Good luck. I hope you can get it fixed.
