Unit will not power up. Green LED light under power cord receptacle is flashing.
I unplugged the unit, lamp tested the power strip outlet, plugged it back in and held down the power switch 30 seconds, and there is still no power - no beeps, no fans.

HI,
I buy power supplies at Amazon or Newegg.
Your OS installation (programs and data) should be good to go when replacing the power supply. Nothing is guaranteed on this planet. I can't predict any unforeseen circumstances. You could install a bad power supply which promptly destroys all components connected to the MB. Worst case scenario, highly unlikely.
Replacing a power supply has many steps to achieve the desired results. Check out this YouTube video (Link) for instructions.
Its a different HP PC but the steps are generally the same.
Contact a local PC tech for assistance.
Regards

Hi,
Good troubleshooting.
Sounds like the power supply has failed.
Your MB has a standard 24 pin plus 4 pin PSU connection to the board. You have a 500 watt ATX power supply, 150 × 86 × 140 mm (5.9 × 3.4 × 5.5 in).
Measure this power supply to verify. Replace with a similar PSU. Look at Corsair, or Seasonic, or EVGA, or others for reliable replacements.
Regards
