It looks like I have exactly the same problem. i can sometimes get the pc to boot by a combination of playing with the jumpers and ressetting the bios (windows plus B key) on start up. have you been able to get to the bottom of it yet? i even bought the exact same model on ebay and got the same problem.

No Lawrance, PC is sitting dead. There is a video which suggests removing CMOS battery (if CMOS reset did not solve the problem) and then taking components one by one until one gets a Beep (or until only cpu is left on the motherboard) while CMOS battery is out, mouse is absent , keyboard is unhooked (in the order of video card, RAM modules, Hard Drives, dvd drive, etc ) I will trythat when I get a chance.

I did remove components one by one all the way checking if I will get a beep. I was not successful. I suppose this motherboard is gone. I still dont get how such a problem could be occurring (like in your case it will boot the night before but it wont boot next day, boot after 3 months rest and won't boot again, in my case).

necatig,
I have an HP ENVY Phoenix 810 with the exact same problem. I have gone through all of the suggested fixes as you have with no results. I bought mine 4 years ago for $1400.00 and it failed after two years while still under warranty. I sent it in for repair and it was determined that the mother board had failed. It has been working fine since September of 2016. I last used in October of 2018 and powered up agin in December after two months of non use. Now it powers the fan for about two seconds and shuts down then restarts after another few seconds and shuts down again. This cycle continues until I power it down. That was the same condition that warranted a replacement mother board. I contacted HP's 'Out of Warranty Department' and was told that they would replace the motherboard for $487 dollars. That is quite upsetting that an expensive computer will need a new motherboard every two years? There is an obvious problem with their mobos that they are not addressing. I have an older HP Compaq Presario that is over ten years old and have never had a problem with it. Product reliability suffers greatly with HP recently. This is what will drive me (a long time user of HP products) to other products. I empathize with you and hope for your sake that yours is not the mobo. So good luck in resolving your issue.

Thank you Lambetgl.
I have a HP Compaq Presario as well which is 10 year old with no such problem (a screen flickering problem exist).
I had a compact mini 100 which was as good. recently junked it because of software issues. It had no hardware issue.
I lost my confidence in HP due to software issues on this HP Envy h8-1534 desktop that I had encountered over the years.
I was hoping to keep it, perhaps use it as Linux desktop if I could later, somehow , replace windows completely with Linux. I see now that it died.
Our family purchased two laptops in the past year and we chose another brand. Good bye HP.
