I want to upgrade my processor from a Ryzen 5 3400G to a Ryzen 7 3700X. HP says that the motherboard supports this processor, but it will not boot or even post. The system gives three long beeps, then three short beeps and repeats this cycle a few times before shutting down *(with the Ryzen 7 installed) . BIOS updated to F.30 dated 11/18/2020. What other steps are necessary to get this processor to function? Thanks in advance.

I found a few other sources that also confirmed that the Ryzen 7 3700X is supported by this motherboard. After doing further research, it became clear that while the Ryzen 5 3400G has a graphics chip embedded onto the processor itself, the 3700X does not. My stepson has a drawer full of graphics cards and we tested a few before we found one that works with this system. We did all of our testing with the Ryzen 5 installed.

In order to get the driver file for the video card we had to install the Nvidia GeForce Experience software-the card is a Nvidia GeForce 750 Ti. Once we got the video card working, we installed the 3700X. After the BIOS notified us that the processor had been changed, it booted to the OS with no problem. I will search for a new video card that meets my needs at some point in the future. Thanks for your reply.Ryzen 7 3700XRyzen 7 3700X

Unlike this model indeed

motherboard specifications, Erica

these two models are quite close and from what I see it would be the same SSID SSID: 8643

One solution would be to try updating the bios.
But from what I see you would already have the last one

Okay so I don't understand everything you say, but in the end it works?
This is what I told you you have the erica2 model

in the link you give me the agent indicates the model erica
not erica 2, the characteristics given are different as I indicated previously

"You can check the motherboard HP Desktop PCs - motherboard specifications, Erica as well."

I thought there was a small chance it would work anyway, but you reported a problem!
this being so I did not look, if the error code corresponded, maybe you had another problem!

There is also another model installed on other computers of this series, does not change his name just the number

it remains curious !

this time the ssid is different however
