My HP OMEN 30L has not been posting recently.

went to turn it on the one day and the RGB lights turn on the fans spin up and then slow down.

there’s no video output or power to peripherals.

i tried to reseat the RAM, GPU and CPU.

cleared CMOS.

Ruled out possible RAM issues by booting with only one stick in different slots.

and replaced PSU and still no POST

i am wondering if the replacing the motherboard is the next best step with the problems presented here.

recently switched out the CPU from the stock Ryzen 5 5600G to a second hand Ryzen 5 5600X that had great thermals and worked fine for weeks prior to the issue.

the previous owner of my Omen 30L however broke one of the standoffs on the motherboard for the CPU cooler (bent in all directions) but I’m wondering if that could be causing instability in the motherboards traces or grounding as well even if it was working fine for almost a year…

any advice would be appreciated!

Greetings @JohnForest

Troubleshooting a video out problem is a process of elimination. The MB is getting power since the RGB works and fans spin up and then slow down.

You have done great troubleshooting.

But you should try the HP factory installed 5600G again if you have not done this.

When using the 5600G you should try discrete graphics and then try 5600G graphics to check video out.

And having a damaged CPU socket/cooler mounting point is not a good scenario. The damage you have described sounds like the backplate has a problem.

If the backplate is damaged you could also try a retail 92 mm CPU cooler using the CPU socket backplate provided with the cooler.

This should be doable since the HP CPU cooler backplate seems to be damaged at one mounting point. Now, this would not help if the MB is damaged.

Installing a CPU air cooler in a 25L/30L PC video Here. Noctua NH-U9S cooler purchase option Here.

You can also shop for a cheaper 92 mm CPU air cooler if desired.
