Hello. I have an Omen 30L that Ive owned since 2021. Last night I tried to shutdown the pc and when I do the monitor keyboard and mouse all turn off. The pc stays on and the power button is unresponsive when I hold it down to shutdown pc. I have to unplug it and when I plug it back in the pc turns on to the same state it was. I can then hit power button and it starts up. It also restarts perfectly fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Dbrenner,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Omen 30L is having issues with shutting down properly. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check Power Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Ensure that Turn on fast startup is unchecked. Fast startup can sometimes cause issues with shutting down.
Update Drivers and BIOS:
- Ensure that all your drivers, especially for the chipset and graphics, are up to date.
- Check for any BIOS updates from HP’s support site. Sometimes, a BIOS update can resolve power management issues.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Make sure your Windows operating system is fully updated as updates often include fixes for hardware compatibility issues.
Perform a Clean Boot:
- Type msconfig in the Windows search bar and hit Enter.
- Go to the Services tab and check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager. Disable all startup items.
- Restart your PC and see if the issue persists. If not, re-enable services and startup items one by one to identify the culprit.
Check Power Supply and Connections:
- Ensure that all power connections to the motherboard and other components are secure.
- Sometimes, a loose or faulty power connection can cause shutdown issues.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Remove and reseat RAM modules and other internal components.
- Check for any visible damage or loose connections inside the PC case.
Perform a System Scan:
- Run sfc /scannow from the Command Prompt to check for and repair system file corruption.
Reset Power Settings to Default:
- In the Power Options window, click on Restore default settings for this plan.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it could be a sign of a deeper hardware problem, such as a faulty power supply or motherboard issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
