HP 240f024
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am a computer tech, 30+ years. Updated a clients BIOS on his HP 24-f024 AIO and now have that dreaded can not find the hard disk (WD-M.2 SSD). Have accessed the BIOS and reset the boot parameters, UEFI to Legacy, back to UEFI . Secure boot, no secure boot. Tried setting to default settings. Tried initially to recovery BIOS by the Win+B key+ power button, that failed. Made a recovery USB with the only BIOS update available for this M/B 84DE. It booted to the USB, ran the BIOS recovery process, still fails to find the SSD drive. I removed the SSD drive, installed it a USB adapter, I can access all files on that drive so I know it is functioning OK.

I am prepared to either change the jumper at the CMOS pins or remove the CMOS battery to try to reverse this catastrophic event. I need help FAST on this nightmare. This unit had the vF.52 dated 11/4/24 already installed on it. The updated BIOS (using the HP Support Assistant) indicated the unit needed to have the vF.52 BIOS dated 11/26/24.

I have updated the BIOS on thousands of computers, and have never had an issue.

Yes.....the HP in question is a HP 240f024 AIO. The problem as described above was failure to boot to the OS after a failed BIOS update. I worked with a HP Care Smart Friend technician and we resolved the issue with a reinstall of Windows 10.  Apparently, the BIOS update files were corrupted (or the download was), thus creating this problem. Fortunately, I had already removed the m.2 SSD drive, saved all of the necessary files to be able to restore the system once Windows was reinstalled.

The issue was resolved to my satisfaction.

I also ran the hard drive testing routine in the tools section during boot, it passed both the short and long test. So, that routine was able to see the SSD drive OK.
