HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I just purchased a HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg0xxx, intel Core i5 11th gen.

I am trying to dual boot Ubuntu alongside my windows machine. I have disabled secure boot in the BIOS.

I downloaded Ubuntu from the official site and I used Rufus to create the bootable USB.  This is what I tried and these are the results.

1. I chose a FAT32 file system while creating the bootable USB. When I try to boot into it, I get a blank screen with a static cursor on the top left of the screen. I have left it for a long time with no changes.

2. I chose NTFS file system. When I select the USB boot option, it shows a trace of activities then stops when it displays the message launching efi\boot\bootx64.efi

I have been on this for days and I would appreciate some help on how to get this done, thanks.

Do you have another computer?

If so, connect your USB memory-stick to that computer, and boot it from the USB memory-stick.

Does it start to load the "dual-boot" software? Of course, do not let the software make any changes to the disk-drive on that computer.
