Hi fellow travelers,

I will try to keep it simple to understand and read:

I'm currently trying to replace HDD to SSD on HP DV6700 (dv6837er; intel processor)
I've updated bios to the latest i could find F5a. (2010); but bios still won't let me change boot mode to legacy, bios is very locked and simplified.

I've tried to install Linux Mint and Windows 11, both can detect SSD while setup, but Linux installs it successfully and after that laptop is not botting into SSD(through SATA, but boots up via usb), and Windows just says that i am not allowed to install OS on this disk, or something like check bios settings.
I've tried to find unlocked bios but had little success.

Could you advise something that would let me to use SSD in this machine?

Also if maybe I would bought newest HDD will it potentialy work flawlessly on this old laptop?

ps
I've also booted using old Hard Drive with windows 7 and updated controller drivers but it didn't helped
I'm using Kingston SSD

Huge thanks

Regards

Hi,
If you possibly can tell....if I will buy new HDD instead of SSD, will it most possibly work in this system?
Thank you
