HP Pavilion p6310f
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I keep a PC dedicated for tax season.  It has been moved around a little, carefully but not used since last May.  Plugged it in, I can hear it sort  of start to boot but that's as far as it gets.  Green light on back side, both fans seem to be working.  The power button is not lit.   I have disconnected and tried the reset (10 second hold) nothing seems to change.   No signal to monitor.  Appreciate any advice.  I have an HP p6130y which works and could be a donor for parts if compatible..(it is running Vista though) My concern is simply retriving my data....hoping for the elusive easy fix

Hi

https://lubuntu.net/downloads/   make an iso, try and boot from it.

It does not need to be installed onto a hard disk.

Then if it boots on the Donor and you can put the W10 disk in.....

and ask for the CLI to the next stage.

OR

Swap/Switch the HDD into a working unit?

So.....

Step 1 would be to try and clear the fault by removing as much of the internal parts as possible, HDD and DVD.

All external and see if the P6310F will actually power on.

If not get the P6130Y to power up.  Fit the HDD.

Use a DVD/USB with an extracted/expanded iso on if necessary....

Then work thru this and ask again please.
