I can’t boot my PC as I get three long beeps and four fast beeps and then get the error saying unsupported adaptor installed and it shuts down. I tried powering down, unplugging power cord, everything really and it is still happening. Am trying to go on HP to get more support but it won’t recognise my serial number which is very frustrating!!!

Hi @robeliz,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Pavilion All-In-One Desktop is experiencing a hardware issue. Here's a breakdown of what you can try to resolve these problems.
Beep Codes
The three long beeps followed by four fast beeps usually indicate a hardware issue. According to HP's beep code documentation, this combination often points to a problem with the power supply or system board.
Unsupported Adapter Error
The "unsupported adapter" error suggests that your PC is not recognizing the power adapter or that the power adapter is not providing the correct voltage or current.
Check the Power Adapter:
- Ensure the power adapter is correctly connected to both the PC and the power outlet.
- If possible, try using a different compatible power adapter to see if that resolves the issue.
Inspect the Power Supply:
- Verify that the power supply is functioning correctly and is compatible with your PC model.
- If the power supply is faulty, replacing it might solve the problem.
Reset Hardware Components:
- Power off the PC and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the case (if applicable) and ensure all internal cables and components are securely connected.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Look for any visible damage to the power adapter or internal components.
BIOS/UEFI Reset:
- If you can access BIOS/UEFI settings, try resetting them to default settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks. I tried the powering off recommendation and it didn’t work. Unfortunately it is the only power cable I have. And it works on our other Pavillion PC. How do I ‘open the case’? Is there something else I can check here?
