My desktop won't boot up and troubleshooting program won't solve problem.  I created a bootable USB thumbdrive with the Easy Recovery Essentials Program but HP troubleshooting won't select it.  I disabled Secure Boot and Enabled Legacy boot and chose USB/BFloppy as first boot sequence,  but nothing happens and it ends up with the same HP troubleshooting message that system is not fixed.   I also downloaded the HP 4 in one USB troubleshooting program,  but it shows as an application on the thumb drive and does not have the boot programs on it like my Easy Recovery Essentials boot USB thumbdrive.   I've been stuck trying to get a recovery program to execute.

hi

" I also downloaded the HP 4 in one USB troubleshooting program, but it shows as an application on the thumb drive and does not have the boot programs on it"

you checked with another computer?
Unless there is a problem with the system being used, a change, normally you should not have this problem

Running HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tests when Windows doesn't start

press the f2 key.

the software is not available with this method?

" but nothing happens and it ends up with the same HP troubleshooting message that system is not fixed. "

what is this message exactly, and when did you get it?
is it an HP message, not windows repair?

My HP Automatic Repair program posts the message "Your PC did not start correctly"  It gives option to Restart or Advance Options.  On the Advanced Options I have chosen both CD Rom Drive and USB Thumb drive as alternate devices to boot,  but neither method has worked.   I downloaded the HP 4 in 1 Troubleshooting program to my laptop and copied it to a USB thumbdrive but it wont work.  It shows as an application.  Do I have to click on the application to open it up on the USB drive.    I cannot check out the USB on my Lenovo laptop because it is not UEFI compatible,

Ok

You downloaded the hp program
so yes, unless I'm mistaken, you have the file downloaded, you click on it , and there it must create the usb key
if I understand correctly that you directly copied the file to usb stick, it does not work!

Installing HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI

When you are unable to start Windows, download HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI at the HP Hardware Diagnostics website.

Install HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI to a blank USB drive if necessary. Access them from a USB drive by disabling Secure Boot. For instructions to disable Secure Boot, see HP PCs - Secure Boot (Windows 10).

  1. To download the latest version, go to the HP Hardware Diagnostics website.

  2. On the HP Hardware Diagnostics website in the Unable To Boot Windows, Or Is Windows Locked Up? section, click Download HP Diagnostics UEFI.

  3. Choose where to save the file and click Save.

  4. Navigate to the folder on your computer or the flash drive where you downloaded the .exe file and double-click the .exe file.

    The InstallShield wizard opens.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.

  7. Choose where to save the files and click Next.

  • Click Next to open the Setup Wizard.

  • Select the installation location for the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI program, then click Next.

    • To download onto the computer to test, select UEFI Partition on Hard Drive.

    • To download to a USB drive, select USB Flash Drive.

I was able to download the HP 4 in one troubleshooting/ repair routine to my computer.  I checked out the hardware and everything appears to be running OK but the Automatic Repair program still says "PC did not start correctly"  One problem I have is I am apparently not registered as the administrator.  My computer came with Windows 10 pre loaded and I did not make a Windows RIecovery CD and must not have made me administrator.  When I go into the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI routine it asks me for a CSO Number and then an Agent ID and I click ENTER leaving both fields blank.   In other options available I cannot access the Command Prompt nor restore my computer to an earlier date because I am not the administrator.  I am essentially locked out of my own PC.  What can I do at this point?

Sorry, I don't understand what you are telling me with the diagnostic software
Normally you just have to do the tests, just do the HDD one, short and long..
at the end of the tests, it should simply tell you, if no problem, or give you an error code

Can you follow this:

[macro]
You can try several things in order to try to recover your data,

You can try a bootable cd / dvd type live cd (linux)

https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-retrieve-windows-files-using-a-linux-live-cd/

you can try removing the hard drive, in order to connect it to another computer internally, or with a usb adapter!

If your disk is not completely out of order, this gives you a small chance
