HP t730 Thin Client
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HPT730 unit which runs windows 10, 64 bit with 16Gb RAM and a 500Gb m.2 drive also has the firepro 2100 graphics card, The unit is used as a small pc for internet use. It was bought as used from ebay and worked ok straight out of the box, and after upgrades etc., has been running fine for about six months..

However, I cannot access the bios by any means.

Pressing the esc or F10 keys only stops the unit in it's tracks, in that on normal startup the disk activity light under the power button flashes as the machine boots up to windows, but if I start pressing the esc or F10 keys (in fact any keys on the keyboard do this) the disk activity just stops, the machine appears to freeze and do nothing with a blank screen.

On normal boot, the first thing to appear on screen is the widows logo.

I have tried the other method like disabling fast boot to the hit the F10 key but that is not an available option.

Removing the cmos battery for ten minutes also does nothing.

I suspect the something has been locked in the bios somehow, I was able to load a fresh copy of Windows onto the m.2 drive from a usb stick when first configuring the machine and it runs fine but I can't boot from usb now for some reason so wanted to check the bios etc.I can read and write to usb and all functions work other than bios access.

Anyone any ideas please?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section but there's no obvious place to post a question such as this.

Turn off the computer, press the power button, and then repeatedly press the esc key until the Startup Menu opens. Press f10 to enter BIOS Setup Utility.

As mentioned, pressing the esc or F10 keys stops the unit in its' tracks, as in it freezes (no disk activity light as soon as any key is pressed) with a blank screen/no display
