Hello,
My HP Victus PC has been suddenly getting a blue screen and restarting quickly after starting the computer. After turning notifications off it seems it only blue screens and restarts after opening certain programs. Chrome and steam seem to open ok, but if I go to certain webpages or try to open a game or discord it goes to blue screen again and restarts.
Before this started I had just 'update and shut down' my pc the night before, but I didn't stick around to watch the update download, so I wouldn't know if anything went wrong there. I did remove the most recent updates of this month, but that didn't seem to fix the problem. One of the security updates wasn't able to be removed though. I also reset the PC to a restore point from before the update, but that didn't seem to have helped. I have also redownloaded the updates but that also didn't fix it. I also did a whole bunch of tests at the UEFI but those all said everything was as it is supposed to be.
I don't know much about computers and fixing problems there (most of the possible fixes I have done so far have been suggested by friends who are more experienced on the subject or the internet) so any help or suggestions would be appreciated! I'd be happy to provide more information if there is anything I have missed 🙂
This is the blue screen in question. It usually only appears for a second or two before the pc restarts.

Hi! I just remembered I should probably update here. I talked with HP Support and after trying a bunch of solutions we came to the conclusion that the only possible fix would be to completely reset my PC, so that's what I did. Fortunately that seems to have fixed the problem with the sudden restarting, but unfortunately it does mean I have no idea what actually caused the problems in the first place. The person at HP support that helped me said it was probably that something corrupted somewhere, so that's why resetting was the only possible fix. Not the most satisfying answer, but an answer nonetheless! I hope this post can still help someone who is facing similar problems to mine 🙂

Hi Sandytechy20,
Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried all the suggested solutions up until step 6 (Perform a Windows system reset), because I currently don't have anything to back-up my files onto. I have also called HP support and together we have updated the divers and system updates, but this did not fix the problem. When starting up a game the graphics were very low quality with a very low framerate and after a little bit the blue screen appeared again. A Youtube video did seem to look normal, although I don't really know what that means. One of my friends suggested the graphics problems might have to do something with the GPU? When I tried to open the NVIDIA Control Panel it said 'NVIDIA Display settings are not available. An NVIDIA graphics card was not detected in your system.' even though my PC has one. I did delete the graphics driver for a possible fix before that, so that might have something to do with it, but this was after I had updates all the drivers with HP Support, so I assume it would have fixed the graphics driver as well? My monitor also seems to be acting up now, since it was only able to work again after a reset (with help from HP Support). After messing about with the cables of the HDMI and Display port at my friends suggestion to hopefully fix the graphics issue the monitor stopped working again. I haven't had the time to fix it again, but I'm contacting HP support tomorrow to look further for a possible fix. If we find out what to do to fix it I will make sure to message here about it. If there are any other suggested solutions I'd still love to hear them 🙂
