Problem Description: Randomly, when we restart our HP Z4 G4 workstations, we're encountering a BIOS boot failure. The symptoms include the fans spinning up, a black screen with no signal detected by the monitor, and no HDD LED activity. Strangely, this issue only occurs when the workstations are connected to our KVM console switch. It seems like the workstations get stuck before the POST process.
Workstation Configuration:
- Model: HP Z4 G4
- Processor: Intel Xeon W-2235
- BIOS Version/Date: HP61 v02.90, 2/2/2023
- Motherboard: HP 81C5 MVB
Additional Information:
- All graphic drivers and other drivers are up to date.
KVM Console Setup:
- KVM Console: HPE Console Switch G3
- Adapters Used: RJ45 to VGA and USB, VGA to Mini DP (from console switch to workstations)
We've been unable to replicate the issue when the workstations are not connected to the KVM console switch. If anyone has experienced a similar problem or has ideas on how to troubleshoot this, your input would be immensely valuable.
Are there any specific steps we should take to diagnose or resolve this issue? Additionally, firmware updates for the KVM console switch are done. Updated with the latest-update.
Thanks a ton in advance for your help!
