There are no programs that will let you know how large a capacity NVMe SSD you can install in a PC.

Theoretically the sky's the limit as long as the drive is single-sided.

The Crucial memory/SSD report for your PC indicates that they sell NVMe SSD's up to 4 TB in storage capacity.

Looks like HP offered NVMe SSD's up to 2 TB in the model series:

You can buy a 2TB hard drive and install it in the M.2 slot on the motherboard. It will probably appear as 2TB hard drive, but it is not a fact yet that it can work as a 2TB storage.  On HP helpline, I talked to a specialists who could not confirm that HP Z6 G4 motherboard can support more than 1 TB on these M.2 slots. He said, you can save 1TB of files on 2TB drive, but if you continue saving, you will see the names of the new saved files, but the files will be empty.

To prove it true or false, you can buy a 2TB drive and test is as described above. However, even if you see it can work as a 2TB storage,  HP does not guarantee it will be stable.

Another specialist on you tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHwmVX6kuhQ  explicitly states at 05:01 that those two slots can accommodate a maximum of 1TB.

On the other hand, some sellers sell 2TB and even 4TB M.2 drives as compatible with HP Z6 G4. However it is not clear whether you can insert them straight in the M.2 slots on the motherboard, or you can only connect them to PCIe slots via intermediate Turbo Quad casings.

To make things clear, can anybody find the motherboard pdf guide? In my computer,  it is marked as FMB-1702A; Z6 G4; PCB REV 1.0.
