Hi @Soshaleigh758, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

We understand how concerning this must be. Based on your description, it sounds like your HP All-in-One is stuck in a BIOS startup loop after being left powered on with a bootable USB drive connected overnight. The good news is that this does not necessarily mean the computer is permanently damaged. In many cases, the issue can be resolved by removing the USB device, performing a power reset, or recovering the BIOS if it became corrupted.

Your HP All-in-One repeatedly flashes the HP BIOS screen, briefly displays the message to press Esc for Startup Menu, and then restarts without loading Windows.

Since the issue began after leaving a USB drive connected overnight, disconnecting the USB device and resetting the system is the best place to start.

1. Perform a Hard Reset

A hard reset clears residual electrical charge from the motherboard and resets the embedded controller, which can resolve temporary startup issues.

  1. Turn the computer off by pressing and holding the Power button.
  2. Disconnect the power cord.
  3. Remove the USB flash drive and any other external devices.
  4. Press and hold the Power button for 60 seconds.
  5. Reconnect only the power cord.
  6. Turn the computer on normally.

Why this helps:
Residual electrical charge can occasionally prevent the BIOS from initializing correctly. A hard reset restores the hardware to a clean startup state.

2. Attempt an HP BIOS Recovery

If the computer continues looping at the BIOS screen, the BIOS firmware may need to be restored using HP's built-in recovery feature.

  1. Turn the computer off.
  2. Press and hold Windows + B (or Windows + V on some models).
  3. While holding those keys, press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds, then release the Power button while continuing to hold the Windows key combination.
  4. Continue holding the keys until the HP BIOS Recovery screen appears or you hear a series of beeps.

Why this helps:
HP BIOS Recovery restores a working BIOS image from the recovery partition or embedded backup, allowing the system to recover from BIOS corruption.

3. Create an HP BIOS Recovery USB

If the built-in recovery does not start, you can create a BIOS recovery USB using another working computer.

  1. On another computer, visit the HP Customer Support – Software and Driver Downloads page. support.hp.com
  2. Enter your HP All-in-One model or product number.
  3. Download the latest BIOS update for your specific model.
  4. Run the BIOS update utility and follow the prompts to create a BIOS Recovery USB drive.
  5. Insert the USB drive into the affected computer.
  6. Repeat the Windows + B recovery procedure to allow the system to recover the BIOS from the USB drive.

Why this helps:
A BIOS recovery USB provides a clean BIOS image when the internal recovery files are unavailable or damaged.

If the issue is caused by a temporary BIOS or boot configuration problem, the computer should successfully recover and boot into Windows after completing the hard reset or BIOS recovery process.

If the BIOS loop continues after these steps, the system may require additional hardware diagnostics or service.

To provide model-specific guidance, could you please let us know:

  • What is the exact model number of your HP All-in-One (found on the back or bottom of the unit)?
  • When you power the computer on without the USB drive connected, do you still see the HP logo briefly before it restarts?
  • Do you hear any beep codes or see any additional error messages during startup?

This information will help determine whether the issue is related to the BIOS, boot device configuration, or another hardware component.

Have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
