I have tried various methods described here and elsewhere to install the latest BIOS on this machine without success. I get either a message that says it can't find the .BIN file, or a message that says that the incorrect .BIN file has been provided. The BIOS I am trying to install is sp139696.exe, see https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitedesk-705-35w-g4-desktop-mini-pc/21353696/mo...
I'd greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

The sp139696. is for Desktop models with a Q26 or Q27 Family BIOS.
sp139728 is for Desktop models with Q15, Q16 and Q19 Family BIOS (select win11 to find it)
Boot into bios and see if you can identify the rom family
On another windows system, when running either the win10 or win11 bios executable, select the options that generates the bin or rom file and have the bios load that file. If there is no option to load when in the bios then you will have to create a bootable usb flash.
