Hi @Dinew30

I don't how you can fix this without HP Support or a local PC Tech (replace the MB or the BIOS chip {HP} or reprogram the BIOS chip offline using a Serial Programmer {PC Tech}) if you have no USB function.

You can't get to the BIOS and you can't boot to a USB BIOS recovery drive.

@Paul_Tikkanen may be able to assist. But it sounds like you have no USB function.

Hi, @Dinew30

Take a look at this solved post that I answered today.

Solved: Re: Power Loss During BIOS Update - HP Support Community - 8856120

I had also replied to your other post earlier this morning with the same info.

HP 24-df0018 stuck in failed bios update boot loop - HP Support Community - 8855882

I was hoping for feedback from the person who said the info I posted fixed the problem, but had I posted more than one way to recover the BIOS.

If the person made the BIOS recovery drive and followed those 3 steps at the bottom of my reply (the 4th step was an informational step),

You don't need to do anything but to:

1.  Power off the device to be recovered.

2. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.

3. Power on the device.

Hi

@Paul_Tikkanen , I hope the HP USB BIOS recovery method works.

It would be great if @Dinew30 confirms this.

I can't see how one can boot to a USB drive without MB USB support unless the HP USB recovery drive can bootstrap the PC when the BIOS is corrupted.

My MB has a BIOS flashback function where you can flash the BIOS, without a CPU installed, if you need to update the BIOS to support a newer CPU.

Maybe HP has added this feature to the USB BIOS recovery option to fix a corrupted BIOS.

This would be great.

Don't have any HP PCs at this time. Trying to keep up to date as to what is happening.

Hi, Bill:

If you look at the BIOS recovery drive screenshot I posted on that other discussion, this is exactly what it says...

1.  Power off the device to be recovered.

2.Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.

3. Power on the device.

4.  The device may reboot up to 3 times with indicator lights on the keyboard flashing, or the screen appearing blank for short time.

The way I see it is all you need to be able to do is to power off, and power on the PC.

No booting, no nothing.

So, I agree with your theory that if that is what the person did in that discussion, HP has the BIOS recovery flash drive set up to simply look for whatever file is on that flash drive that starts the recovery process.

Hi @Paul_Tikkanen

Took a closer look at the link in your previous response.

That user also lost USB function due to a corrupted BIOS. I missed this.

So HP has created a USB BIOS recovery procedure which works when the BIOS is cooked.

Good to see this.
