So I have a HP Pavilion and it won’t start up when I plug in the power the fan spins for a second and there’s also a light that flashes for a second too when I try to press the start button nothing happens, can anyone help!

Hi,

 

You have a hardware problem. The best option is to have a local PC tech troubleshoot the PC to find the bad component if your warranty has expired. Contact HP Support (Link) if you are in warranty.

 

You can try troubleshooting but it requires systematic removal of peripherals and motherboard components commonly referred to reducing the PC to a minimum configuration. This includes front USB and card reader. Then test to see if the PC will POST after each step. This process should isolate the bad component. You may work your way down to a bad motherboard or a bad CPU.

 

This process also requires replacing existing components (CR2032 MB battery, power supply, RAM, CPU, motherboard, graphics card, network adapters, etc.) using known, good replacement components. The power on button or associated electronics could have failed.

 

This process is time consuming and can be very expensive.
