Hp Pro 3010 Microtower PC

I came across an office PC that needed repairs, an HP Pro 3010 Microtower PC. I quickly realized that it had a faulty CPU cooler, so I ordered a new one, a Deepcool CK-11509. It's not the best, but it does the trick for office work, and since it's an old machine, I figured it was enough.

The installation went smoothly, but I realized that my new CPU cooler only had 3 pins on its connector, unlike my motherboard, which had 4 pins. I figured it was no problem and that I could give up the automatic fan ramping and just set it to a fixed value.

When I booted up my PC for the first time, it showed "CPU fan has failed, service PC immediately, press F2 to continue." I pressed F2, and it worked just fine. The fan worked as expected, although a bit loud, and my PC was cool, but I could not access the BIOS.

When I plugged the new CPU cooler (the 3-pin one) into a case fan slot and the old CPU cooler (the 4-pin one) into the CPU fan slot, it worked fine, and I could access the BIOS. However, there is no hardware monitor to bypass my error. Any help bypassing the error, I don't want pressing f2 every time boot up my pc and a loud fan .

Hello,

I understand.

But in this case there are really no alternative methods.

Hello Eddy003, how are you ?

Following the equipment manual, it has the correct part for the cpu fan:

The person who added it yourself found that it is missing a connection pin, so the machine will actually show an error at startup.

Yes, the manual shows the old CPU fan, the broken one. I didn't want to go through the trouble of getting the same one since I found a much cheaper one. I know what my problem is and why it shows up. I just want to know if a bypass exists for this since I don't want a loud fan screaming while I use the PC.

I could just plug the new CPU cooler into another port and disassemble the old one, take just its fan, and install only that. However, that seems very janky, and I don't have anywhere to install two fans in the case. Plus, the old CPU fan is very small and doesn't fit anywhere. Therefore, I don't want a loose fan in my case.

Or I could cut just the wire from the old CPU fan and surround it with electrical tape, plugging just that in. Although I am not 100% sure that will work, and I am saving that as a last resort. Plus, it seems very dangerous, and I want to try to avoid that.
