Laptop not showing anything at boot. If I connect to AC power I see orange light next to where power cord connects to laptop. When I power on laptop, I see screen backlight but nothing else displayed. No hp logo, not a single piece of text

If I hit esc or F2 while turning it on... I see "ESC... Pause Startup" or "F2... Startup check" on screen and then nothing.

I was hoping to get to uefi or bios to see the battery diagnostics. I am trying to confirm that all I need is to replace the battery. So far no luck.

First press the power button and check for any lights lighting up or displays on the screen. If no signs appear, remove all peripheral devices and check the back of the computer for a removable battery. If there is a removable battery, remove the battery and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.

Will
