Here is some very good news for you...

Another forum member had the same issue with his HP 8100 Elite business desktop, so I suggested the PCI video card thing and voila!

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/Video-Card-not-recognized-in-PCI-Express-x16-Sl...

So, I am now pretty sure your $11 PCI video card investment will pay off.

I'm in the same boat you are...I ordered a new wireless router for my son's birthday on Monday.

They haven't even shipped it yet, and his birthday is today.

So, I guess he gets a picture of it in his birthday card for now.  :generic:

I guess delivery time can be calculated in inverse proportion of how quickly you want what you ordered!

Hi:

I'm assuming your PCI video card showed up by now...

Did installing it allow you to get into the BIOS and enable your PCIe x16 ports?

Yes it arrived and no it didnt work....very diapointing ! I must have damaged the motherboard somehow. I started from scratch again. pulled power cord external. disconected everything from the mobo. took out  all cards, pushed cmos button pulled battery overnight even .pluged two power cables back in to board installed battery put pci card in pushed start................. beep beep beep beep beeep beep....... fans come on, still gets to point of starting graphics and stops...............I give up. I have been pricing MOBOs can get o ne from $50 to $150 waitnig for extra funds and I will buy one . Cant say I didnt try!!!!!!

Sorry to read that.

Probably something is wrong with the motherboard.

I just had my HP 8200 Elite CMT die out of the blue.

Just quit.  No display at all yet everything is powered up and it isn't the graphics.

I get no sound and no HP welcome screen.

So, I just bought a used one on eBay because I have so much money into that thing...32 GB ofmemory, a blue ray drive, SSD, graphics card...

It's like the BIOS just disappeared.

Wow sounds nice. I just purchased an SSD not to long ago the speed difference is amazing!!! I am running another Z400 right now.

W3520 XEON CPU

128 GB Adata SSD

500GB HDD for storage

12 GB DDR3  eec ram 6 slots @ 2GB each can max at 24GB

2 ATI Radeon HD4850 graphics cards with crossfire bridge.

I found it on ebay without SSD, Graphics cards and half the ram for $89......stold it!!!!.......I was the only bidder....

That is a great deal, and a great rig you have.

I am using my 8000 Elite right now as a backup until the replacement 8200 Elite comes in.

I am not going to toss the one I have out.  I will hang on to it and buy a replacement motherboard on eBay in a couple of years when the prices come down to near nothing.

That way I risk very little in case I botch up installing the processor.

I have not had much luck with the thermal paste application on the last 2 processor swaps I did.

I can't figure out why either.  I followed all the right protocols.

Stay in touch. Ill let yo know when I install my motherboard....

Back to my old problem..... I just happened to pick up the side cover of the Z400 and there is a schematic of the mother board I found a jumper called "crisis recovery jumper" listed with the vga card installed I jumped the "crisis recovery jumper" it beeped 8 times along with red light stoped beeped once light went blue and I got a screen!  systen bios corupt put system bios image in drive and recycle...  I just happened to have the newest BIOS flash on a usb stick.....Rebooted it reflashed the bios !!!!!!! so i removed the stick and the jumper restarted and back to 6 beeps no screen. if I leave the jumper on i askes for bios image every time. Im getting somewhere but not quite......AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH
