If the touchpad of your HP Victus laptop is not working, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue. However, if your laptop is still under warranty -which you can check here: How To Perform An HP Warranty Check | HP® Tech Takes, and your laptop is under warranty, I would contact HP here: Contacte con soporte oficial HP® - España Soporte HP®.
Otherwise -and/or if you feel up to it, you can follow these steps to identify and fix the problem:
Restart the laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve software glitches that may be causing the touchpad to malfunction. Save your work and restart the laptop to see if the touchpad starts working again.
Check touchpad settings: Ensure that the touchpad is enabled in the laptop's settings. On most HP laptops, you can access the touchpad settings by going to "Control Panel" > "Mouse" > "Touchpad" tab. Make sure the touchpad is enabled, and you can also adjust sensitivity settings if necessary.
Check for physical damage: Inspect the touchpad for any visible physical damage. Ensure there are no cracks or scratches that could be affecting its functionality. If you find any damage, you may need to take the laptop to an authorized service center for repairs.
Update touchpad drivers: Outdated or corrupted touchpad drivers can cause issues. Go to the HP website, navigate to the "Support" or "Drivers" section, and search for the appropriate touchpad driver for your laptop model. Download and install the latest drivers and restart the laptop to see if it resolves the problem.
Use an external mouse: If the touchpad is still not working, try connecting an external USB or wireless mouse to your laptop. This will allow you to continue using the laptop while you troubleshoot the touchpad issue.
Check for conflicts: Sometimes, conflicting software can cause issues with the touchpad. If you recently installed any new software or updates, try uninstalling them to see if it resolves the problem.
Run Windows Troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in troubleshooting tool that can help identify and fix common issues. Go to "Control Panel" > "Troubleshooting" > "Hardware and Sound" > "Hardware and Devices." Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
Perform a System Restore: If the touchpad issue started after a recent software change, you can try using the System Restore feature to revert your laptop to a previous state when the touchpad was working correctly. To do this, type "System Restore" in the Windows search bar, open the utility, and follow the instructions to choose a restore point.
Update Windows: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date with the latest updates and patches. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs and compatibility issues.
Check for BIOS updates: Visit the HP support website and check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop model. If there are updates, follow the instructions provided by HP to update the BIOS.
If you have tried all these steps and the touchpad is still not working, it's possible that there is a hardware issue with the touchpad itself. In such cases, it is recommended to contact HP support or visit an authorized service center to get the laptop inspected and repaired by professionals.
Hope this was helpful.
