Hi @Austere

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with BitLocker. BitLocker is a feature in some Windows operating systems that helps protect data by providing encryption for entire volumes. If your PC is asking for a BitLocker recovery key and you don’t have it, here are a few steps you can try:

Check Your Microsoft Account: If you have linked your Microsoft account to your device, try signing in to your account at https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey. Sometimes, the recovery key is saved here.

Check With Your Organization: If your device is managed by an organization such as a workplace or school, contact your IT administrator. They might have access to your recovery key.

Check Other Locations: The recovery key might be stored in several places:

  • A printout you made when BitLocker was activated.
  • A USB flash drive (if you chose this option when setting up BitLocker).
  • Your organization's Active Directory account (if your device is part of a domain).

USB Key: If you saved the recovery key to a USB flash drive, insert the drive and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you are still unable to recover your BitLocker key, and if your device is not starting, your best option might be to contact Microsoft support or visit a local computer technician for assistance.

Unfortunately, HP Support does not store BitLocker recovery keys as this is a Microsoft feature.
