I own a HP 500-023w and can't unlock the bios password to make changes on my computer

I turned on the computer after storing it for over 6 months, and tried to get into the bios..... but it was password locked, and I never had a password for the bios? I tried the standard methods of resetting, or wiping the cmos, but nothing works? does anyone have the solution?

Hi:

I don't see any instructions for clearing the BIOS P/W on your PC's support page, but if you look at the picture of the motherboard at the link below, right above the black connector which is above the sata ports on the right side of the picture, I see what appears to be two blue jumpers.

One is probably the clear CMOS jumper and one is probably the clear password jumper.   They should be labeled in white lettering on the motherboard.

Normally the process to clear the P/W is to shut down and unplug the PC, move the clear password jumper over one pin (to the right or left, as applicable...you're only going to be able to move it on pin over one way or the other).

Then you plug in and power on the PC.

At this point the P/W should be cleared.

Then you shut down, unplug the PC and move the jumper back to its default position.

Then plug in and power on the PC.

Hopefully, that will work for you.
