I think the power supply is dead, I brought it to the computer repair store site suggested on the HP site, but they told me they could not and were not allowed to order and replace the power supply, which is unique to HP, and I had to go back home to google what to do.

How do I start the process for HP to fix my computer out of warranty?

That is strange.  Did they even test the power supply to see if it was bad?

Possibly it was not worth their time or your money.   I would not want to pay for service to examine my system if the cost to look at it exceeded the value of the power supply or even the entire system.

If they work with HP systems they should be able to test the power supply or the system and tell you what is at fault.

It is possible that if you buy a replacement power supply you will find the system still will not boot up as the problem could be the motherboard, CPU or memory or just a broken switch.

what have you tried so far that indicates it is the power supply?

Hold power button for 30 seconds.  Any beeping noise? flashing LED on the num lock button?  Fans start up and stop after a second or two?

Remove graphics card, unplug disk drive, remove all memory.

Beep when turned on?

Put in one stick of memory and try again.

Beep or flash LED?

See if you can borrow a power supply or be able to return it.

Go here

https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer/

put in your serial number and see what the part number is for the power supply

get part here

https://parts.hp.com/hppartsIGSO/Default.aspx?mscssid=

if they will not allow you to return it then look up the part number on ebay and see if they will allow a return

for example

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=L26279-800&_sacat=0

just guessing l26279-800 and I spotted ":free returns" for that 500 watt one
