I am at a complete loss and I have tried everything I can think of to do. I own an hp computer and I keep getting an error message on start up that has a stop code INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. I have tried completely resetting my pc to factory setting, I’ve tried every command prompt under the sun and I’ve tried uninstalling updates and system restores. Hp customer service is useless and hasn’t done a thing to help me. I’ve only had this pc for a few months and it was brand new when I bought it. I don’t know what else to do.

Hi,

Thank you for the response.

Check Boot Order:

  • Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F10, F2, or Delete during startup).
  • Make sure the boot order is set correctly, with the hard drive/SSD as the primary boot device.

Update Drivers:

  • Try booting into Safe Mode. After restarting your computer, press and hold F8 or use the advanced startup menu to enter Safe Mode.
  • Once in Safe Mode, update your storage controllers or hard disk controllers drivers through Device Manager.

Check Connections:

  • If you're comfortable with it, check all internal cable connections to ensure they are secure. This is particularly relevant if you recently moved or opened your computer.

Run Check Disk Utility:

  • Boot from a Windows installation media, select 'Repair your computer', and then open Command Prompt.
  • Run the command:chkdsk /f /r C:
  • This checks for errors on the disk and attempts to fix them.

Repair the Boot Sector:

  • Again using Windows installation media to access Command Prompt, run the following commands one by one:bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot bootrec /rebuildbcd

Restore or Reset Windows:

  • If these steps do not work, try restoring to an earlier system image or reset Windows, keeping your personal files. You can access this through 'Advanced Startup Options'.

I hope this helps.
