Slim Desktop 290-p0046
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

- Restarted my PC and it booted with INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

- Tried to diagnose with BIOS tools / safe mode / startup tools

- I don’t have the password to the PC, only the PIN

- Whenever I try to restart the PC, it’ll happen (again, before the Lock Screen, before I can even do anything)

- Sometimes on boot the screen gives no signal

- Recent change: updated BIOS to current version to diagnose PC

- If I can’t get help here, I’m probably going to take the PC to Best Buy / licensed repair service

- Other details: Slim Desktop 290-p0046, i3-8100 cpu, 8gb DDR4 2400 SD ram, 1tb rom, UHD 630

Hi @devemporer,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Inaccessible Boot Device" error with the error code 0x0000007B is a Windows Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error that usually occurs when the operating system is unable to access the system partition during the boot process. This error can have various causes, including hardware failures, driver issues, or software errors.

Here are some possible solutions that you can try to resolve this error.

  • Check your hardware: This error can be caused by a faulty hard drive or other hardware issues. You can try running hardware diagnostics or checking the connections and cables to make sure everything is properly connected.
  • Check for driver issues: This error can also be caused by outdated or incompatible drivers. Try updating your drivers or rolling them back to a previous version.
  • Check for software issues: This error can be caused by software conflicts or corruption. Try booting your computer in Safe Mode and running a virus scan or using System Restore to restore your system to a previous state.
  • Use the Windows installation media: If the above steps do not work, you can try using the Windows installation media to repair your system files. Boot your computer from the installation media and select the option to repair your computer.

If none of these solutions work, you may need to reinstall Windows. However, be aware that this will result in the loss of all data on your hard drive, so be sure to back up any important files before proceeding.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
