Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

A support team asked me to disable them in order to troubleshoot a other problem (not important for this thread). I've followed tutorials but i didnt found both settings in the BIOS. (My system is the HP G9 Z2 Tower)

Hello @386708 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

On HP Z2 Tower G9, those power-related options are not always visible, even if tutorials say they should be. This is by design on HP business BIOS, not because you missed something.

1️⃣ ASPM (often hidden completely)

On most Z2 G9 systems:

  • ASPM is hard-disabled by HP

  • There is no user-visible toggle

If it exists at all, it would be under:

BIOSAdvancedPower ManagementPCI Express Power Management

If you do not see it → that is normal.

2️⃣ Sleep / Deep sleep controls (renamed or removed)

HP no longer exposes classic sleep controls.

Instead, look for any of these names (not all systems have them):

AdvancedPower ManagementIdle Power SavingsRuntime Power ManagementPCIe Runtime D3OS Power Management

If none exist → HP has firmware-enforced defaults.

3️⃣ Fast Boot (this one DOES matter)

This setting should exist and is the most important one you can control.

Advanced → Boot Options → Fast Boot = Disabled → POST Delay = 510 seconds

This directly affects device initialization and troubleshooting.

Hope this helps!
